The permanent ground level loading facility will be constructed on siding No. 2, which is yet to be laid. Until then siding No. 1 is being successfully used as a temporary loading facility, as demonstrated by the receipt of the bogie bolster wagon and the movement of Salmon. The laying of siding No. 2 is key to extending passenger services past Birkenbaud crossing as the continuing use of siding No. 1 for loading and unloading means it cannot be extended to complete the run-around loop. However, siding No. 2 laying is dependent upon completion of the siding drainage and surfacing works and the purchase of the missing components for the turnout (see Run-around loop No.2 siding).
